HYDRO MATT

DESCRIPTION:

Hydro Matt Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) are well established sealing products in the geoenvironmental industry. Hydro Matt GCLs are high performance needle punched environmental reinforced composites which combine two durable geotextile outer layers with a uniform core of natural sodium bentonite clay to form a hydraulic barrier. Fibres from the non-woven geotextile are needle punched through the layer of bentonite and incorporated into the other geotextile. When hydrated under a confining load, the bentonite swells to form a low permeability clay layer with the equivalent hydraulic protection of approximately 1 metre of compacted clay. The excellent properties make the products ideal for many projects. Main Feature of Geosynthetic Clay Liner Environment-ecologically friendly Sodium Bentonite is a water-proofing material with a non-ageing permanence Installation is easily achieved with quality approved applicators Hydro Matt Geosynthetic Clay Liners have self-repair properties

INSTALLATION METHODS

Preparation of Subgrades 1.The subgrades must be compacted before laying the GCLs, the surface should be smooth with minimal indentation. 2.The surface should preferably be dry however damp conditions can be catered for. 3.The minimum clearance from excavation should be 600mm or as directed by local safety requirements and on sloping sites the angle of batter should not exceed 30 degrees. 4.It is important to establish a safe and clean site prior to commencing the works. Preparation before laying the GCLs 1.GCLs can be laid by hand or mechanically. 2.Lay the Geosynthetic Clay Liner strictly in accordance with the sketched drawing and confirm in writing to generate the guarantee. 3.When laying the GCLs the seam overlap from mat to mat should be staggered. 4.All laps should be free from sand soil or other impurities that could affect the quality of the join. 5.When fixing GCLs to sloping or vertical positions it is preferred to nail the liner in place withdrawing nails as progressively backfilling. 6.The Geosynthetic Clay Liner is manufactured with two types of geotextile (one to each face). It is imperative that the woven geotextile is placed against the structure. Backfill 1.GCLs laid must be backfilled the same day so as to protect the products integrity. 2.The best material for backfilling is sand or aggregate to a maximum granule of 10mm with no foreign matter or impurities within the material. 3.The backfill should be compacted to a minimum 85% dry density in layers of 150mm. 4.Care should be taken whilst backfilling to maintain the integrity of the GCL. 5.When backfilling in the planar surface, a minimum thickness or 300mm should be obtained.
