A “paint on” Flexible Insulation Coating provides excellent radiant reflectivity and emissive properties. The Ceramic Microcell technology incorporated in the Adflex-Thermal Barrier coating function much the same way as the ceramic tiles used on the Space Shuttle.
Insulating ceramic microspheres, in effect, give a
miniature thermos bottle.... A microscopic hollow
vacuum sphere that resists thermal conductivity and
reduces the transfer of sound.
Ceramics are able to reflect, refract and block heat
radiation (loss and gain) and dissipate heat rapidly
preventing heat transfer through the coating with as much as 90% of solar infrared rays and 85% of Ultra violet rays being radiated back into the atmosphere.

Enviroshield’s ability to emit heat is particularly useful at night. Any built-up energy in a building is absorbed back through the roof, allowing the building to cool rapidly.
Traditional roof materials retain heat in a building throughout the night because of their low emittance values.
Over a whole day up to 50% of the solar heat load is prevented from entering a building’s coated roof. During hot weather, internal building temperatures can be reduced by over can be reduced by over 15°C after the application of Enviroshield.
The ceramic particles used in Enviroshield are similar to those used in the Space Shuttle tiles. A thin coating of these particles will protect a human hand from a blow torch flame held only ten centimetres away.
Formulated on advanced acrylic membrane technology, Incorporating Ceramic Microcells, Enviroshield (or Adflex-Thermal Barrier) offers a protective and decorative providing flexibility, Superior UV resistance and most importantly a shield against heat transfer.
The Ceramic particles in the Enviroshield membrane coating create a thermal barrier. These particles refract, dissipate and reflect heat. Test studies indicate that installations coated with ceramic sphere formulations dramatically reduces the heat transfer. The difference between a coated surface and an uncoated surface was greater than 45%.
The Adflex-Thermal Barrier system is a more efficient thermal barrier than foam insulation with an R factor of 2.5 or a 75mm thick insulating batt. Applications of the Adflex-Thermal Barrier system, “Enviroshield” can reduce the required size of air-conditioning plant in new buildings or significantly reduce the loan on existing air-conditioning by as much as 40%, providing recurring cost savings.
